As a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) you must obtain Continuing Education Credits (CECs) in order to maintain your certification. The requirement is 36* CECs over the course of each three year period that you are certified. The CECs must be obtained in a relevant counselling or psychotherapy area.

After taking a course that is pre-approved for Continuing Education Credits, complete the "Continuing Education Credit Application Form" (available here: https://www.ccpa-accp.ca/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/CEC_APP_APRIL6.pdf) and submit the form (along with your certificate of completion) to the CCPA National Office.

Registrants of the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO) must complete 50 CPD hours every two years. Requirements include:

• 15 hours in Section A: Professional Interaction and Interdisciplinary Activities
• 15 hours in Section B: Continuing Education, Professional Training and Self-Directed Learning
• Optional hours from Section C once Section A and B minimums are met
• No more than 10 hours per single event and 10 hours per activity type

Content requirements within the 50 hours include:

• 10 hours Ethics/Jurisprudence
• 5 hours Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI)
• 3 hours Supervision (if applicable)

Content requirements may be met through activities in any section, and a single activity may count for multiple categories.

Section A includes activity-based peer interaction such as workshops with discussion or structured professional development meetings.
Section B includes information-based CE such as courses, seminars, and self-directed readings.
Section C includes preparation for teaching, presentations, and professional dissemination (preparation time only).

CEUs may be counted on a 1:1 basis. Behaviour Analysts may count 1 CEU as 1 CPD hour.

Registrants must maintain CPD records for five years, including activity date, section, hours, content category, description, and reflection. Supporting documentation (e.g., certificates, agendas, registration confirmations) should be kept when available. Only the CPD Declaration of Completion is submitted at the end of the cycle; full records are provided only if selected for audit.

The College does not accredit or endorse CPD providers. Registrants must determine whether an activity supports their professional competence and meets CPD requirements.
